Milwaukee Brewers Week In Review (7/31-8/6)

This is just a post to share the Milwaukee Brewer’s last week of results.  The reason behind these type of posts are to help keep me engaged as a fan.  If others enjoy reading these type of posts, then kudos to you!

7/31/17 – Brewers Off Day

8/1/17 – Brewers won 3-2 over the Cardinals

Jimmy Nelson picked up his 9th win of the season, and Corey Knebel got his 19th save.  Carlos Martinez took the loss, his 9th.  The Brewers scored three 1st inning runs, with RBI’s from Braun, Santana, and Pina.

8/2/17 – Cardinals won 5-4 over the Brewers

Brewers trailed 5-1 going into the 7th inning, but couldn’t muster up a complete comeback. 7th inning RBI single from Hernan Perez and 8th inning 2 run home-run from Jesus Aguilar.  Weaver picked up the win, and Rosenthal got his 7th save.  Suter took his 2nd loss. Eric Thames hit his 25th home-run.

8/3/17 – Brewers won 2-1 over Cardinals

Matt Garza got his 5th win of the season and Corey Knebel picked up another save, his 20th.  The losing pitcher was Cecil. Brewers got a solo home-run from Aguilar and RBI single from Broxton.

8/4/17 – Brewers won 2-0 over Rays

Big day for Brandon Woodruff.  He earned his first career MLB win, and Corey Knebel picked up yet another save, his 21st.  RBI single from Eric Thames and solo home-run from Orlando Arcia. Faria took the loss for the Rays.

8/5/17 – Brewers won 3-0 over Rays

Yet another great pitching performance for the Brewers.  Zach Davies picked up his team leading 13th win of the season, and Anthony Swarzak got his 2nd save.  It was a 1-0 game, thanks to an RBI double from Arcia, going into the 9th inning.  That’s when Hernan Perez hit a 2 run home-run to insure the Brewer’s victory.  Cobb took the loss for the Rays.

8/6/17 – Rays won 2-1 over the Brewers

Another pitcher’s duel, and came down to the battle of bullpens.  Orlando Arcia hit a solo home-run in the 6th inning to tie the game, but Souza Jr hit a walk-off solo home-run in the bottom of the 9th inning to secure the Ray’s victory.  Barnes took the tough loss for the Brewers.

The Brewers had a great week going 4-2.  It would’ve been nice to see them complete the sweep over the Rays, considering how well they pitched all series, but we really can’t get greedy here.  They look to continue their momentum with a  4 game series with the Twins (2 @ Minn, 2 @ Mil).  Go Brewers!
